# Secret Numbers

In brief: Ask players to figure out a number with 2 pens.

Intensity: Low

Introduction: A ‘connection’ game.

Prop(s): 2 slim items – e.g. 2 pens, 2 markers, 2 chopsticks, 2 ice-cream sticks, etc.

How to play:

• Place 2 markers/pens in any orientation you choose.
• Place1 outstretched finger behind the markers/pens and say, “This represents 1.”
• Change the orientation of the 2 markers/pens, put out 2 fingers and say, “This represents 2.”
• Repeat this for the number “3”.
• Orientate the markers/pens any way you want and ask what number that orientation represents.
• The actual number corresponds to the number of outstretched fingers on your 2 hands, which can be anything between 0 and10.
• Most people who focus on the markers/pens rather than your fingers which is the answer behind the trick.

Notes to the Facilitator: How obvious can things be and yet have people be blind to them? Here is a game to show that people see only what they want to see.
