In brief: Using spiral to help people see that different people have different points of view.
Intensity: Low
Introduction: Here is a simple activity that I have used to show that, depending on where they are, 2 persons may see the same thing but have opposing conclusions. It helps to explain why management/staff or sale/production teams usually do not see eye-to-eye.
Prop(s): None
How to play:
- Tell everyone to look upwards and using their index fingers, draw a circle continuously in anti-clockwise direction.
- Without stopping, slowly spiral the circle down to chest level until they are viewing it from the top.
- The direction of the circle will have changed to a clockwise direction.
Variation(s):
- Draw a circle in the same way, but this time starting from the left. Spiral it to the right. This explains why different departments have differing views because they are assessing the situation from different angles.
