Group Trust Fall (Willow in the Wind)

In brief: 1 faller falls and get move around by many catchers.

Intensity: Medium

Introduction: The expansion pack of trust fall for the whole group.

Image: < Remember to ask all ‘catchers’ to maintain one-leg-forward and one-leg-back position for stability. >

Prop(s): None

How to play:

  • Everyone stands shoulder-to-shoulder in a circle.
  • One person will be the ‘faller’ and stands in the middle of the circle (see picture – below).
  • The rest of the team forms the ‘catchers.
  • Adopt the ‘faller’ and ‘catcher’ positions.
  • As catchers, the control area is not just immediately in front but towards the left and right as well.
  • The person standing directly behind the ‘faller’ will be the ‘chief catcher’, and will start and end the fall.
  • The game starts with everyone giving the cues aloud together.
  • The ‘faller’ falls onto the ‘chief catcher’.
  • He/She will pass (not throw) the ‘faller’ to the next person beside him/her.
  • In this way, the ‘faller’ will be passed around the whole circle.
  • After 1 or 2 rounds, the ‘chief catcher’ will lift the ‘faller’ back to a standing position and tap on his/her shoulder to signal the end of the fall.

Remember to ask all ‘catchers’ to maintain one-leg-forward and one-leg-back position for stability.

Caution:

  • All catchers’ hands must always be in out-stretch position until the end of the fall.
  • Avoid passing the ‘faller’ to the opposite catchers. Pass to the immediate left or right.
  • The key word is ‘pass’ the faller, not ‘throw’.

Notes to the Facilitator: Some call this game ‘Willow in the Wind’. And I usually joke that the ‘faller’ is to be passed around the circle slowly. Otherwise, the game would have been called ‘Willow in the Storm’.
