Human Windmill

In brief: 2 partners stand back-to-back linked hands, to perform cyclical movement.

Intensity: Medium

Introduction: A fun way to loosen up those stiff muscles and joints.

Prop(s): None

How to play:

  • Pair the participants up and ask them to stand back-to-back.
  • They are to hold each other’s hands lightly. Do not interlock fingers!
  • Go through the motions shown in the pictures:
    • Hold hands with both arms out-stretched;
    • Starting from one side, bring the arms over the heads;
    • Lower the arms and bring the second pair of arms over the first;
  • Gently bend the body and point the second pair of arms towards to the ground;human_windmill_combined_1500pix
  • Reverse the sequence;
  • Repeat a few times.
  • The position of the feet must be maintained throughout the whole activity.
  • Increase the pace as the partners become comfortable with the routine.

Caution:

  • Watch out for those with a history of back/shoulder problems.
  • Always start slowly for all the participants to get familiar with the motions before doing it at a faster pace.
